Venezia Stick With Stroppa Despite Poor Start
Italian reports suggest Venezia will retain head coach Giovanni Stroppa. The team remains the only one in Serie A without points after five matches in the 2026-27 season.
Venezia has lost to Lecce, Milan, Frosinone, Fiorentina, and Lazio. A Coppa Italia loss to Udinese also put promotion-winning coach Stroppa's position at risk.
However, Sky Sport Italia reported Tuesday evening that Venezia has chosen to back Stroppa, who led the team to the Serie B title with 82 points last season.
Decision-makers reportedly considered Stroppa's future after the recent 2-0 defeat to Lazio. They concluded he deserves more time to prove himself in Serie A.
Stroppa's next challenges are away matches against Atalanta on October 12 and Napoli on October 17.
Two other Serie A coaches have already been dismissed this season: Fabio Grosso was fired by Fiorentina after three losses, and Domenico Tedesco was sacked by Bologna with one point from his first four league games.
