However, former Fiorentina, Inter, and Roma star Edin Dzeko equalized in the 86th minute, sending the game into extra time. After 30 minutes without any further goals, the fate of the encounter was decided by a penalty shootout.
During the shootout, Wales' goalkeeper Karl Darlow saved Ermedin Demirović's opening penalty. However, Brennan Johnson shot over the bar, and Neco Williams' attempt was denied by Bosnian goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj. Kerim Alajbegović scored the decisive penalty, sending his team to the final against the "Azzurri."
