Juventus and Como Lead Race for Udinese’s Zaniolo Amidst Contract Dispute

Sport news

Nicolò Zaniolo has re-emerged as a prominent figure after a strong season with Udinese, contributing five goals and five assists in Serie A. His impressive performances have now put him on the radar of Juventus, Como, and AC Milan. A disagreement over wages with his current club, Udinese, is reportedly accelerating the possibility of his departure.

According to Tuttosport, Udinese acquired Zaniolo permanently from Galatasaray for approximately €5 million. However, the Turkish club retains a 50% share of any future transfer fee.

The primary obstacle is financial. There is a seasonal wage gap of €600,000-€700,000 between Zaniolo’s demands and Udinese’s current offer. The club is reportedly unwilling to renegotiate his existing contract, which pays him €1.2 million net per season and is set to expire in June 2029. This impasse is fueling significant interest from other clubs.

Juventus Considering Swap Deal, Fabregas Eyes Zaniolo for Como’s Champions League Debut

Juventus is exploring options with Udinese, who are seeking €15 million for Zaniolo. The Turin club might propose including young talent Vasilije Adzic in a potential deal, a player who is highly regarded by Udinese’s sporting director, Nani.

For Juventus, Zaniolo presents a viable and cost-effective alternative to their top attacking midfield target, Brahim Diaz, for whom they are willing to be more patient due to the complexities surrounding his situation at Real Madrid.

Como’s manager, Cesc Fabregas, is also keen on securing Zaniolo’s services. Fabregas is actively looking to recruit talented Italian players at accessible prices as the club prepares for its inaugural Champions League campaign.

AC Milan’s interest has been further indicated by a recent visit from agent Vigorelli to the club’s headquarters. However, the absence of a confirmed sporting director at Milan may complicate their pursuit at this juncture.

Udinese’s preference, however, is to retain both Zaniolo and Keinan Davis to form the core of their attacking lineup.
