Ramos Discusses Milan Move: 'The Fans Are Incredible, I Love Feeling the Support'

Goncalo Ramos reflected on his initial months at Milan, pinpointing a moment far from San Siro that solidified the club's immense scale.

Speaking to official club channels, the Portuguese forward recounted meeting Rossoneri supporters during the pre-season tour.

“I encountered Milan fans for the first time in Jakarta, where we have a significant following,” he stated. “It was remarkable because we were on the opposite side of the globe, yet their support was clearly audible. It underscores Milan’s magnitude and the power of our fans, who energize us in every match. I appreciate feeling that backing; it can be a substantial aid in critical junctures.”

He also revealed prior history with Ruben Amorim, stemming from the Benfica-Sporting rivalry.

“I recall scoring twice against Amorim when we drew 2-2 with Sporting,” Ramos said. “I was thrilled, though I didn't speak with the coach directly, only with his staff members Carlos and Vital. Amorim was already familiar with me then, and I had already played numerous games for Benfica.”

Ramos Lacking Goals But an Important Piece for Amorim’s Milan

His goal output hasn't yet mirrored his reputation, a situation that might typically draw criticism at a club of Milan's stature, especially given his arrival as the centerpiece of Amorim’s offense. He has scored just once this season.

His contributions beyond scoring have kept the coaching staff supportive. Ramos often drops deep, links play, and occupies defenders, creating space for the two players behind him. This is crucial in a 3-4-2-1 formation designed for Christian Pulisic and Alphadjo Cisse to exploit spaces between the lines. Pulisic's recent improvement is partly a consequence of this.

Off the pitch, he is still adjusting. “I know a few words like ‘ciao,’ ‘domani,’ ‘attaccante,’ and ‘calcio,’ and I grasp most of what’s said,” he commented on his Italian language skills.

Milan's start to the season has been solid but not entirely convincing, and questions about the striker's scoring will persist as long as the goals don't materialize. However, Amorim brought Ramos to the club with a clear understanding of his capabilities, having frequently faced him in Lisbon.
