Inter Milan’s Marcus Thuram and Hakan Calhanoglu were caught up in the sheer euphoria following their team’s remarkable 3-2 comeback victory against Como, which secured their place in the Coppa Italia Final. The post-match interviews were frequently interrupted as Thuram, in particular, couldn’t resist rejoining the jubilant Inter celebrations.
The Nerazzurri players and fans were in high spirits at San Siro after overcoming a 2-0 deficit. Calhanoglu was instrumental in the turnaround, netting two goals and providing an assist for Petar Sucic, after Martin Baturina and Lucas Da Cunha had initially put Como ahead.
Thuram’s Unstoppable Enthusiasm Amidst Fan Chants
Thuram repeatedly made reporters wait as he dashed off to participate in the Inter supporters’ impassioned chants of his name, energetically jumping with the fans in the Curva Nord.
A breathless Thuram eventually managed to utter, “Sorry, they called me! It’s a fantastic game, all of it fantastic!” before returning to the energetic celebrations with the ultras.
“It would be wonderful to win two trophies; we are giving everything and want to bring this joy to the fans.”
With Thuram once again drawn into the heart of the Curva Nord celebrations, the reporter turned their attention to Calhanoglu. The midfielder scored a rare header during the match.
“I scored with my head in Germany, but yes, I was a bit lucky, and I’m happy we managed to turn the game around,” Calhanoglu told Sport Mediaset, attempting to maintain focus despite Thuram’s repeated departures.
“We already knew it would be difficult against Como; they really know how to play football, but we had a really good second half.”
Inter is now on track for a potential Double, a feat they have only achieved once before, during Jose Mourinho’s historic Treble-winning season in 2010, when they also won the Scudetto and Coppa Italia.
“What we want is to go all the way in these two tournaments. We are happy to be in the Final; now there are important games in Serie A, and we want to get it done as soon as possible,” Calhanoglu concluded.
